Biography

Dr Agya Mahat joined the WHO Health Workforce Department as a Consultant in 2020. She is supporting WHO's work on health practitioner regulation and international migration of health personnel.

Agya Mahat earned her Master's of Public Health degree from the University of Washington.

She has worked in the health sector since 2005 in diverse roles – starting as a dental surgeon and trainer to a researcher and humanitarian professional – across Nepal, Bangladesh, India, Kenya, Pakistan and the United States. Prior to joining our team, she managed WHO's Health Emergencies Programme for Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.
