Biography

Dr. Akbar Fotouhi is a medical doctor and professor of epidemiology at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, with over two decades of experience in public health research, clinical trials, and evidence-based policymaking. He has held several prominent positions, including Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology at Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Chair of the National Institute of Health Research in Iran.

He is a member of numerous national and international committees, including the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG) and the Regional Certification Committee for Poliomyelitis Eradication in the Eastern Mediterranean region.

He is also an experienced clinical trialist and a member of the Clinical Trials Committee of Iran’s Food and Drug Organization. His expertise spans statistical analysis, vaccine policy, and implementation science. Dr. Fotouhi’s recent participation in the Advanced Vaccinology (ADVAC) course has further enhanced his knowledge of vaccine development and global health initiatives.
