Professor Anurag Agrawal
Biography
Anurag Agrawal is Dean of Ashoka University. After completing graduate medical education at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi (1994), he further trained in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, USA (2003), followed by a PhD in Physiology from Delhi University. His primary research is in respiratory biology and broader interests are in a new vision of health and healthcare seen through the lenses of emerging technologies such as genomics or artificial intelligence. He serves on national thinktanks and expert groups, co-chairs the Lancet and Financial Times commission on Governing Digital Health Futures, and serves on related expert groups at the World Health Organisation and Global Partnership for Artificial Intelligence. He received the Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar Prize in 2014, Wellcome Trust DBT India Alliance Senior Fellowship in 2015, Sun Pharma award in 2020, and has been elected fellow of the Indian National Science Academy and the Indian Academy of Sciences.
