Beatriz Thomé
Biography
Dr Beatriz Thomé is a physician with a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Washington, with a focus on Global Health. She holds a PhD in Infectious Diseases having conducted research on HIV and children. She has worked as a clinical research and development manager at Butantan Institute, Brazil, designing and conducting vaccine trials. She was a member of the Ethics Working Group on ZIKV and Pregnancy at the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics, and member of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics working group on Research Ethics in Global Health Emergencies. She is currently based at the Preventive Medicine Department of the Federal University of São Paulo teaching public health and epidemiology. Dr Thomé is Co-chair of the WHO Ethics and COVID-19 working group.
