Biography

Dr Chantal Reusken works as principal virologist at the Centre for Infectious Disease Control of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment in Bilthoven, the Netherlands. Currently, she heads the WHO CC on laboratory preparedness and response for high threat pathogens and biorisk, and coordinates the ECDC-funded preparedness and response expert laboratory network for emerging and vector-borne viruses (EVD-LabNet) which will transfer in 2025 to the European Reference laboratory for arboviruses. She chairs the lab technical working group in the WHO elimination of yellow fever epidemics (EYE) program and is a member of the advisory board of GOARN-research. She has served as expert on a wide range of arboviruses on international committees and consultant groups of organizations such as ECDC, WHO, UNICEF, GOARN and GloPID-R. She has a longstanding track record in arbovirology and brings specific expertise with a focus on diagnostics, virology and epidemiology/ecology. She has more than 225 international peer reviewed publications.
