Dr Christopher Fearne

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health, Member of Parliament, MALTA

Biography

Dr. Fearne is Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health of Malta and has been a Member of Parliament since 2013. He is a pediatric surgeon with extensive research and teaching experience, including as Clinical Chairman for Surgery at Mater Dei Hospital in Malta.  He has worked to bring AMR to the national and international agenda, including developing Malta’s first National Strategy on AMR for 2020-2028. He was the President of the European Union Council of Ministers of Health during Malta’s Presidency in the European Union in 2017 and spearheaded the setting up of the Valetta Declaration for the joint collaboration for the procurement and development of new drugs. He graduated with a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Malta.
