Khaleda Islam
Biography
Dr Khaleda Islam Director, Primary Health Care (Retired), is involved with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOH&FW), Bangladesh in development and review of the Heath Population, Nutrition sector programs (HPNSP). She is working as a member of the ‘Technical expert meetings on selection and prioritization of Global Diabetes Monitoring Framework (GDMF) and set of indicators’, and WHO South-East Asia Regional Expert Group on NCD (REG NCD).
Her area of expertise is health policy, and planning, Primary Health Care (PHC), Health System Strengthening, focusing on NCD, AMR, aging care, emergency response for disaster, and conflict. She is experienced in outbreak, surveillance, International Health Regulations, Medical Education and Health Workforce Development. She conducted assignments in Sri Lanka, AJK Pakistan, Afghanistan, Liberia, and South Punjab Pakistan, and worked with WHO, GIZ, MERLIN, World Vision, Save the Children, CARE, JICA, Fleming Fund Country Grant, DAI LLC Int etc. She worked for Rohingya Refugee, and an implementation research facilitator of WHO/TDR. Currently she is an adjunct faculty of BRAC JPGSPH. Dr Islam is a medical graduate and holds master’s in medical education from Dundee University UK.
