Dr Matilde Rusticucci
Biography
Dr. Matilde Rusticucci, is a full professor at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), and principal researcher at the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET). Her main expertise is on Extreme climate events, Climate variability and climate change.
She had broad participation in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), as the coordinator lead author (CLA) Working Group 1 of the 5th IPCC Evaluation Report (AR5), lead author AR6 Working Group 2, member of the writing team of the Synthesis Reports (SYR) at AR5 and AR4, Lead Author AR4 Working Group 1, and Review editor of the IPCC Special Report Managing The Risks of Extreme Events and Disasters to Advance Climate Change Adaptation (SREX)
She has been interacting with health and social scientists, producing interdisciplinary articles, directing degree and postgraduate thesis and training on climate and health issues on several occasions. Her first article published on heat waves and mortality was the basis for the Argentina National Meteorological Service to install and disseminate the alert system against heat waves. She is an appointed number at the Argentine Academy of Environmental Sciences.
She has published numerous scientific papers and participated in numerous national and international congresses. She has received numerous awards, among which are: Honor Diploma, awarded by the Honourable Senate of the Argentine Nation or the recognition of the 100 Argentine innovators, by BGH. She received an IPCC certificate for contributing to the awards to the IPCC as Nobel Peace Prize 2007, as the main author of the 4th Evaluation Report.
