Dr Mohammad-Mehdi Gouya
Biography
Dr. Mohammad-Mehdi Gouya, is Assistant Professor of Faculty of Medicine in Iran University of Medical Sciences. He received his Medicine Degree from Jondishapour University of Medical Sciences, Ahwaz in 1980 and specialty in Infectious and tropical Diseases, Tehran University of Medical Sciences from 1986 to 1990. He is Director General of the Center for Disease Control, MOH&ME since 2000.
He is a member of Strategic and Technical Advisory Committee for HIV/AIDS (STAC-HIV), WHO Headquarter from 2004 onward and Member of AIDS Regional Advisory Group (ARAG), EMRO, WHO from 2001 to present. He is a manager of National Programs on Disease Control in Complex Emergencies and National Administrative Manager of Measles & CRS Elimination Campaign and Member of MPH Council in Tehran University of Medical Sciences in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He was a member of Technical Advisor Group (TAG) for Polio Eradication in Afghanistan in 2012 and Temporary Advisor for Tropical Neglected Disease for World Health Organization in 2012 and Member of the Review committee in headquarter on the functioning of the International health regulation (IHR 2005) and assessment of the international preparedness and response to the pandemic of influenza [H1N1] in 2009. He was also member of Program Coordinator Board (PCB) of UNAIDS in 2012and Member of Program Coordinator Board (PCB) of UNAIDS from 2007 to 2010. And Special Advisor to Health Deputy Representative for Situation assessment of Transgender people for providing health services and Transgender operations in 2006. He was Temporary WHO Advisor on Health Promotion, Injury Prevention and TB from 2002 to 2004.
He participated in different training courses and fellowship and published a lot of papers (mostly in English) on various issues of health and has done authorship and contribution in health books and book chapters.
