Biography

Sangeeta Sharma is Professor of neuropsychopharmacology at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences in Delhi, India, and president of the Delhi Society for Promotion of Rational Use of Drugs. Her core areas of expertise include clinical pharmacology, and promoting rational use of medicines, especially antimicrobial use and AMR, medication safety and quality in health care. She has rich, diversified professional and managerial experience in healthcare and has served as Technical Co-Ordinator INDIA-WHO Essential Drugs Programme, Medical Superintendent & Secretary, Medical Council of India.  She has conducted ~300 workshops to build capacity for doctors, nurses and pharmacists. She has authored over 100 publications, including her book “Standard Treatment Guidelines: a Manual for Medical Therapeutics” 6th edition (2021), which has been adopted/adapted by several Indian states. She serves on the Ethics Committee of several national and academic institutions, and is a Nodal Officer for AMR Containment in Delhi State.
