Dr Sheila Ogoma

Biography

Dr Sheila Ogoma is a public health entomologist with 16 years blended experience in research, and programmatic implementation focusing on entomological surveillance and vector control product testing and evaluation. Her research experience is in studying the behavior of malaria vectors, the mode of action and efficacy of vector control products including spatial repellents and indoor residual spraying insecticides. She also has technical experience in the design and implementation of entomological surveillance programs aimed at collecting data that is useful for informing vector control strategies spanning across multiple countries in west, east and southern Africa, meso-America and the Greater Mekong Sub region. Dr Ogoma is currently the Regional Technical Advisor at Abt Associates. She also served as the Co-chair Work stream 2: “Expanding the Vector Control Toolbox” of the Vector Control Working Group, Roll Back Malaria from 2019 to 2023. She is passionate about mentoring women in vector control and continues to engage in multiple mentorship programmes. 

Dr Ogoma is a member of the Vector Control Advisory Group since 2023.
