Dr Shrish Naresh Acharya

Biography

Dr Shrish Acharya is a specialist in internal medicine with the Fiji Ministry of Health since 2008. Dr Acharya attained MBBS in 1999 and Masters in Internal Medicine in 2006. He obtained specialist registration in 2008. He is currently in his 10th year as Consultant Physician and Head of Internal Medicine at Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Fiji.

Dr Acharya also holds honorary lecturer position with the Fiji National University and teaches Internal Medicine to undergraduates and postgraduate students. He is also a member of the Internal Medicine Society of Australia & New Zealand (IMSANZ), Internal Medicine Organization of the Pacific (IMOP), Australia New Zealand Association of Neurologists (ANZAN), Fiji Medical Association (FMA) and Epilepsy Fiji. he has volunteered with the Sai Prema Foundation’s Health on Wheel program to provide medical services to remote and rural communities in Fiji.

Dr Acharya has contributed and chaired Fiji Clinical Practice Guideline development group for the Diabetes Management Guideline (2012), Cardiovascular Therapeutic Guidelines (2015) and Respiratory Therapeutic Guideline (awaiting publication).

Dr Acharya has special interest in Neurology, including Acute Stroke Care and Epilepsy. He established the first ever Stroke Unit and Epilepsy Unit in Fiji. Dr Acharya lives in Suva, Fiji and continuously strives to improve the well-being of all Fijians.
