Dr Valeriu Crudu
Biography
Dr Crudu Head of the Microbiology & Morphology Laboratory of Phthisiopneumology Institute, National TB Reference Laboratory in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova. The main domains of activities of Dr Crudu are scientific research in the field of control, microbiological diagnosis of infectious diseases, drug resistance. He has 35 years of experience in laboratory assessment, network and reference functions.
During this period Dr Crudu implemented over 50 international and local projects from the European Union Research and Development Funding programme, US National Institute of Health, US Civilian Research & Development Foundation, Science &Technology Center in Ukraine, USAID, European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership and Academy of Science from Moldova. He is authored or co-authored more than 200 publications, scientific reports, training materials on national and international journals and forums and supervisor of junior researchers and doctoral students. Member of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Member of the European Respiratory Society, and Member of the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease.
Dr Crudu participated in the implementation of the National TB Programme in Moldova, where was responsible for Infection Control and Surveillance of drug-resistant TB; contributed to the reorganization of the structure of microbiological services and unified TB surveillance, implement WHO standards and quality control activities in all laboratories from Moldova; He collaborating with such renowned academic centres as the University of California, San Diego; Harvard University, Boston, USA; Borstel Research Center, the Medical University of Lübeck, Koch Institute from Berlin, Germany; Liverpool School of Tropical Diseases, UK.
