Biography

Dr. dr. Vivi Setiawaty, M. Biomed is serving as Director of the Center of Research and Development for Biomedical and Basic Health Technology, National Institute of Health Research and Development (Balitbangkes), Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes RI) for the past few years. She is also involved in Influenza surveillance activities since 2006 and now she is a Indonesia National Influenza Center (NIC) Director. Previously, she served as Director of the Center of Research and Development for Public Health Efforts and managed national studies. It proves that her managerial skills can be relied on to overcome the health problems in Indonesia.

For the last two decades, she has also focused as a researcher in molecular virology. With extensive experience, she continues to contribute to the research related to emerging viruses, virus detection, respiratory infections, vaccines, and viral treatments. Therefore, she is also highly engaged in government programs for the control and prevention of COVID-19, such as the development and monitoring of the testing laboratories, laboratory logistical management, and testing of diagnostic kits and vaccines to be used in Indonesia.

She graduated from Universitas Indonesia with a degree in Medical Doctor (dr.) in 1995 and completed her Doctoral degree in Biomedical Science in 2013.
