Mohga Kamal-Yanni

Biography

Dr. Mohga Kamal-Yanni MPhil, MBE is a senior health policy advisor with 40 years of experience in health and medicine policy and programming in in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. Her policy and advocacy work covers access to health technologies, infectious diseases including COVID-19, HIV/AIDS and Ebola, universal health coverage, financing and delivery of health care, non- communicable diseases, gender and equity.  

Mohga has been working with international and national health and development agencies including multilateral agencies, national and international NGOs and governments. Mohga has been deeply engaged with most international health organizations including; The WHO, The Global Fund, UNITAID, Medicine Patent Pool and the World bank, as well as with pharmaceutical companies.

Mohga is currently a senior policy and technical advisor to UNAIDS and the People’s Medicine Alliance on access to medical technologies. Mohga is also a  Key advisor to the NGO board members of UNITAID, a member of HAI board and member of the WHO COVID Ethics & Governance Expert Group. Mohga is currently engaged in the civil society work on the Pandemic Accord.

Mohga has published a multitude of papers and studies and blogs on access to healthcare and to medicines, and has written several unpublished reports on local manufacturing, equitable access to pandemic products from a human rights perspective, access to cancer and NCD services and financing and delivery of health systems. During the COVID crisis, Mohga used social media and released podcasts in Arabic to dispel misinformation and to communicate scientific knowledge.
