Professor Elie Akl
Biography
Elie Akl is a tenured Professor of Medicine at the American university of Beirut (AUB), where he serves as the Vice Provost for Research, leads the division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics, and directs the AUB GRADE Center. His research expertise is in systematic reviews, practice guidelines, and conflicts of interest. He published more than 550 papers and was listed by Clarivate as one of the “Highly Cited Researchers” yearly since 2015 (top 0.1% of scientists globally). He is a member the GRADE executive committee, and of the board of trustees for the Guidelines International Network. At the World Health Organization (WHO), he is a member of the Advisory Panel on International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP), and advises many WHO departments on guideline development.
