Dr Fransisca Agung
Biography
Fransisca Agung is a paediatrician teaching at Faculty of Medicine University of Pelita Harapan. She is the founder and chairwoman of Indonesian Adolescent Health Association (Asosiasi Kesehatan Remaja or AKAR - Indonesia). Her passion in adolescent health has led her to assist the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in several national guideline developments around adolescent health, including one on adolescent mental health.
Francisca emphasises the lack of education and training in adolescent health for health professionals in Indonesia, which has led her to develop programs for both pre- and in-service settings. Additionally, parenting has been a special issue that she has been working on, as parents or parental figures are primary social connections children have that helps determine their quality of life.
