Georgia Paxton
Biography
Associate Professor Georgia Paxton OAM, MBBS, BMedSci, MPH, FRACP is a paediatrician with more than 20 years’ experience in child refugee and migrant health. She holds clinical, academic and research appointments at the Royal Children’s Hospital, University of Melbourne, and the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute in Melbourne, Australia, and advisory roles with the Australian Department of Home Affairs and Department of Health and Ageing.
She has expertise in refugee health, migration health screening, child development and disability, immunisation systems and clinical nutrition. Alongside clinical work, she has led guidelines in refugee health, and immunisation program delivery in primary care and local government, promoting equitable vaccination access across the lifespan. She has published more than 40 academic papers and multiple government reports in refugee health. She has a long standing interest in the inclusion of migrants in health datasets, and supporting health systems to enable equitable access for migrant populations.
