Giovanni Sotgiu

Biography

Professor Giovanni Sotgiu is a medical doctor and professor researcher affiliated with the University of Sassari, Italy. He earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Sassari. He got two specializations in Infectious Diseases and Medical Statistics. Further enhancing his expertise, Professor Sotgiu obtained a PhD in Clinical Trial Methodology and an Executive Master in Management of Health and Social Care Organizations.

Currently, he serves as a full professor of medical statistics at the University of Sassari.

His research interests are diverse, encompassing epidemiology, prevention, vaccines, infectious diseases, and medical statistics. Throughout his career, he has authored numerous publications in these fields.

He has made significant contributions to the study of tuberculosis. 1. Epidemiology of tuberculosis: he has studied global and regional trends, focusing on Europe and high-burden countries, analyzing factors affecting transmission, diagnosis, and treatment outcomes. 2. MDR-TB: He has investigated the effectiveness of treatment regimens and public health strategies. His work has supported the development of evidence-based policies and guidelines. 3. LTBI: he has contributed to understanding screening and treatment of individuals at risk of progressing to TB.
