Dr Guilhem Larigauderie
Biography
Guilhem Larigauderie, PhD, is a biologist by training, employed by the French Ministry of Defence (DGA). He was born in France in 1974. He has been working in the biology field for more than 27 years, beginning with academical research and then in the area of biological defence for more than 17 years. This background has given him expertise in genomics, proteomics, molecular and cellular biology, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, biosafety, biosecurity, sampling, analysis and identification of biological pathogenic agents.
Within the
biological division of DGA Chemical, Biological, Radiological and
Nuclear (CBRN) Defence (the French national reference establishment in
the area of biological defence), he was involved in defining joint
standards for evaluation of technologies for bioaerosol collection and
identification of biowarfare agents. He contributed to preparedness and
capabilities to strengthen worldwide investigative capacity in the field
of biological weapons, since DGA CBRN Defence is a member of several
national and international laboratory networks. Supervising the smooth
running of the analyses, in adequation with the quality assurance
system, is still a part of the activities carried out by Dr
Larigauderie, leading to successful participation in proficiency tests
dedicated to detection and unambiguous identification of biological
agents of concern (bacteria, viruses, toxins). He is also in charge of
the expertise concerning non-proliferation and disarmament of biological
 and chemical weapons.
