Habib Benzian
Biography
Habib Benzian, DDS MScDPH PhD, is a Research Professor, Epidemiology & Health Promotion, College of Dentistry, New York University, and serves as Associate Director Global Health & Policy of the WHO Collaborating Center for Quality Improvement & Evidence-based Dentistry. In various capacities during the last 20 years, Dr Benzian has been at the forefront of global advocacy to end the neglect of oral health, which was also the focus of his PhD. As expert in international public health, health policy, NCDs, as well as school health and WASH in schools, he works at the intersection of academia, policy and practice. He serves as adviser to the WHO, UNICEF, governments and donor agencies and supported major policy development processes. Currently he is Senior Research Fellow at the Global Health Center of the Geneva Graduate Institute for Higher Policy Studies, researching the complex process of priority setting in global health governance. He is a member of the Lancet Commission on Global Oral Health as well as several WHO expert advisory groups related to school health and health promotion.
