Prof Hong Bin Kim

Biography

Dr. Hong Bin Kim is a Professor of Internal Medicine at Seoul National University College of Medicine in Republic of Korea. He currently works as an infectious disease physician at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, providing direct patient care as well as being a director of antimicrobial stewardship program after being a chief of Infection Control Office for 13 years. 

He has served on several advisory boards for Korea Disease Control Agency, and as chair of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) expert committee. He had been actively involved in establishment of the nationwide surveillance system for healthcare-associated infection as well as for antimicrobial use. In addition, he participated in preparing the national action plan combating AMR in Korea. 

His research interests include epidemiology and control of antibiotic-resistant pathogens, as well as healthcare epidemiology and antimicrobial stewardship. Over the past 25 years, he has published more than 310 SCI(E) papers with 85 SCI(E) papers as a first or senior author in the field of infectious diseases. He was recently nominated as not only a fellow of IDSA (Infectious Diseases Society of America) but also a fellow of SHEA (Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America).
