Biography

Immaculate Bazare Owomugisha is a Health, HIV, Gender, and Human rights Attorney with over 15 years’ experience managing and leading HIV, TB, SRHR and Gender program implementation, strategic litigation, on human rights advocacy, community mobilization and engagement on gender and social inclusion. Skilled in cross functional teams and convening different stakeholders, including government, private sector, civil society, and right holders to tackle human rights challenge. Extensive experience in HIV/AIDS, TB, law and ethical considerations and the provision of technical support and capacity building in integration of human rights-based approaches to programing and policy formulation. 

She is Executive Director of Center for Women Justice Uganda (CWJU) and formally worked as Head, Advocacy and Strategic litigation at Uganda Network on Law, Ethics and HIV/AIDS (UGANET). She is  a member UNAIDS Reference Group on HIV and Human Rights, member of Unitaid Community Delegation on HIV, TB, Malaria, Hepatitis B and other diseases, member of Global Fund Country Coordinating Mechanism(UCCM), a member of Supervisory Board of HIV Justice Network (HNJ), member of the Board of Trustees for AIDS Rights Alliance of Southern Africa (ARASA), a member of International Steering Committee of International Community of Women living with HIV-Global, Board member - International Community of Women Living with HIV Eastern Africa (ICWEA), Trust member of Uganda Key Population Consortium (UKPC), and sits on the board of other national NGOs.
