Biography

Dr Jean-Claude Manuguerra  is a Research Director and head of the Environment and Infectious Risks Unit, as well as the head of the Emergency Biological Intervention Unit, and deputy head of the French National Reference Centre for Hantiviruses, at the Institut Pasteur in France. His expertise lies in virology and animal health. He is also the contact point for the OIE Collaborating Centre of the Detection and Identification in Humans of Emerging Animal Pathogens and the Development of Tools for their Diagnoses at the Institut Pasteur. He was co-director of the National Influenza Centre for Northern France from 1995 to 2003. He chaired the French National Influenza Pandemic Planning Committee from 2003 to 2013 and member of the Steering Committee of the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network coordinated by WHO from 2000 to 2018 (Chair from June 2012 to December 2013).
