Kayoko Takahashi
Biography
Professor Kayoko Takahashi is an Occupational Therapist and a professor at Kitasato University, Japan, with over 20 years of clinical, research, and educational experience in assistive technology. Clinically, she has rich experience in prescribing assistive technologies for daily living (i.e., feeding, bathing, toileting, communicating) to secure the independence and dignity of patients with various diagnoses and ages (i.e., cerebral palsy, autism, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, frail elderly in the community). Her research work is focused on developing innovative assistive technologies (i.e., self-support devices for ADLs, brain-computer interfaces, rand obotics). Her current research project is to examine new communication devices for people with ALS which has been funded by the Japanese federal agencies (KAKENHI).
