Lee Fairlie
Biography
Lee is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, SA, the Director of Maternal and Child Health at Wits RHI. She has significant clinical and research experience in pediatric, adolescent and maternal populations, as well as adults. Her focus areas include HIV and co-morbidities, TB and vaccine preventable diseases (including COVID-19). She is a paediatrician and leads the Wits RHI Shandukani Research Centre.
She is the PI of a number of clinical trials and Implementation Science projects. She serves on three WHO Working groups (HIV, STIs and Hepatitis B in pregnant and lactating people; MMR-MAP WAG, WHO Technical Advisory Group on Evidence for Clinical and Policy Considerations for New Tuberculosis (TB) Vaccines) and co-chairs the WHO Working group for “Advancing TB vaccine Research in Pregnant and Lactating women”. She is a member of the IMPAACT Therapeutics Committee. She serves on a number of guideline committees. She has over 100 peer-reviewed publications in the field.
