Biography

Mary Kamb leads the research team supporting elimination and control of neglected tropical diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta.

A graduate of Gonzaga University and the University of Washington Schools of Medicine and Public Health, Dr Kamb completed a medical residency at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and post-doctoral fellowship in Cancer Epidemiology. She joined CDC in 1989 as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer and has subsequently led global and domestic HIV/STI prevention research studies (1991-2000), CDC’s Vietnam Office (2001-2005) and CDC’s global STI activities (2006-2018).

Her public health interests include global disease elimination efforts, maternal and child health, and the intersection of public health and human rights.
