Mathias Lasgaard runs the research program Loneliness in Public Health, which centres on the epidemiology of social health and the strategic development of targeted interventions for loneliness and social isolation. The programme includes population-based surveys and studies linking survey- and register data, community-based interventions, reviews of interventions, and multiple effectiveness studies.

Mathias’ scholarly contributions are reflected in publications that have been essential in establishing loneliness as a public health concern within Denmark. His primary ambition is to pursue research activities that hold significance for policy implementation and public health interventions, and his work is strongly focused on community health.
