Mohamad Fawzy
Biography
Mohamad Fawzy is the EIOS Focal Point at the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office, where he focuses on strengthening public health surveillance, developing community engagement strategies, and organizing capacity-building workshops in complex settings. With over eight years of experience at Egypt’s Ministry of Health, he has played a key role in managing national health crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic. His work has included coordinating event-based surveillance, leading outbreak investigations, and supporting and analyzing data for the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS). As Egypt’s EIOS Community Manager, he advanced public health intelligence by training field teams, drafting surveillance protocols, and enabling the rapid detection of emerging health threats. As a member of Egypt’s IHR National Focal team, he represented the country in negotiations on INB and IHR amendments as well as other global health security initiatives. He has contributed to international conferences and training programs, including the MED-COM Conference in Italy, EMPHNET RRTs in Jordan, and the Robert Koch Institute’s IHR event in Germany.
