Biography
Dr Monique Andersson is a Consultant in Clinical Infection at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Oxford. She is an Honorary Associate Professor of Medical Virology at the University of Oxford, UK and is Extraordinary Associate Professor of Medical Virology at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. More recently she has taken up a post as senior research fellow in Department of Biomedical Engineering and Oxford Suzhou Centre for Advanced Research (OSCAR).
After she completed her specialist training in Virology and Genitourinary Medicine in the UK, she returned to her home country, South Africa, where she held an academic post at the University of Stellenbosch. She returned to the UK in 2015 to work in Oxford. Her main research interests include infections in pregnancy, hepatitis B and developing novel diagnostic technologies for resource limited settings.
