Dr Natalia N. Ladnaia
Biography
Natalia N. Ladnaia, has been a Senior Researcher at the AIDS Prevention and Control Research Unit (formerly known as Russia Federal AIDS Centre), the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology, for over 25 years.
Her research interests include improvement of HIV epidemiological surveillance system and epidemiological monitoring of HIV-infection in Russia; development, improvement and build-up of epidemiological HIV-database and data collection; research on surveillance of HIV drug resistance and the development of national surveillance and monitoring of HIV drug resistance; behavioral and epidemiology investigation among risk groups; demographic and economic impact of HIV epidemic in the Russian Federation; and estimating and projecting HIV/AIDS epidemic in Russia.
She led research on surveillance of HIV drug resistance and development of national surveillance and monitoring of HIV drug resistance elements in Russia and six Eastern European and Central Asian countries. The Country Working Group on HIV drug resistance, the Country Committee on HIV drug resistance in the Russian Federation, were established with her direct participation. She has authored the national guidelines for surveillance and monitoring of HIV drug resistance.
Natalia is a сo-author of over 30 national guidelines and scientific methodological documents on HIV epidemiological surveillance and over 100 published articles. She is regularly engaged by WHO, UNAIDS and other UN organizations as an expert on HIV epidemiological surveillance in Russia and across the Eastern European and Central Asian region.
