Biography

  • Medical graduate from India and served Government of India for more than 41 years. Superannuated from Government service on 31st May 2022 as one of the National Immunization Manager for India and held the said position for more than 16 years.
  • Presently serving on honorary basis as Senior strategic Advisor, JSI.
  • Represented various technical bodies like SAGE subgroup, National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI), India Expert Advisory Group (IEAG) MR, IEAG Polio etc.
  • Planned and Implemented Introduction of several new vaccines in the National Immunization Program of India like PCV, Rota, Pentavalent, Hep B, IPV, MR, Td, Covid 19 vaccine etc.
  • Managed the switch of tOPV to bOPV, Measles to MR, Hep. B & DPT to Pentavalent, TT to Td etc.
  • Implemented the change of vaccination schedule from Single dose to two dose for Measles containing Vaccine and JE vaccine.
  • Managed distribution and tracking of RI vaccines and Covid 19 vaccines from manufacturer throughout the country.
  •  Contributed in development and implementation of various digital platforms including e VIN for vaccine tracking and CoWIN for recoding & reporting of covid vaccination.
  • Contributed in Development of new policy and programs like
    • Open Vial Policy for multi dose vaccine vials,
    • Introduction of AD syringes in National Immunization Program,
    • Incentives Norms for Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA), a community level worker for various activities under National Immunization Program,
    • Mission Indradhanush, a program for intensified immunization drives, to strengthen Routine Immunization
  • Authored and Co-authored 50 scientific papers and articles of which 47 are in various international journals.
  • Award and Honor: Awarded Measles Rubella Champion by Measles & Rubella Initiative a joint venture of American Red Cross, CDC Atlanta, UNICEF, United Nation Foundation and World Health Organization.
  • Made presentation in vaccinology course as faculty in ADVAC 2023 (France) and INDVAC 2022 (India).
