Praveen Kumar
Biography
Praveen Kumar is a Director-Professor at the Department of Paediatrics, Lady Hardinge Medical College & Associated Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital, New Delhi. He has special interests in paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology & nutrition, infectious diseases & paediatric HIV and has been working in the field of health and nutrition for the past 22 years. He is also the lead co-ordinator of National Centre of Excellence for Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) Management. He has majorly contributed to National Child Health programmes as a technical core group member for developing training packages on the “Management of Children with Severe Acute Malnutrition” by adapting WHO guidelines, Management of Sick Children by adapting WHO ETAT and WHO guidelines for the management of Sick Children in District Hospitals. He also contributed to integrating IMNCI, IYCF in undergraduate training (Pre-service IMNCI), Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight activities, developed Essential Nutrition Practices counselling cards during COVID-19 pandemic which were endorsed by PAN Society (IAP Nutrition Chapter). He also developed a digital training package on FSAM and CMAM and an online training programme on the Management of Children with COVID-19 disease & other common childhood illnesses and a digital e-learning package on updated F-IMNCI 2021 with the support of WHO-India for paediatricians, medical officers & Nurses working in district hospitals and FRUs.
