Professor Annick Bogaerts
Biography
Professor Annick is an associate Professor of Midwifery at the KU Leuven, Belgium. She is Principal Investigator of the REALIFE research group. In her research, she is focusing on perinatal epidemiology with specific interest in maternal overweight/obesity, weight gain during, between pregnancies and related outcomes, and also developing and testing lifestyle interventions in multicentre RCT’s. More recently, her research line has expanded studying the (1) intergenerational impact of maternal, paternal health on growth and development of offspring in large and merged Flemish databases, (2) the concept of perinatal resilience and programmes for enhancement of maternal mental wellbeing. Her scientific outcome is reflected in 85 journal articles, 4 scientific books (editor), 6 book chapters, 107 abstracts/posters/presentations nationally and internationally and 3 reports (HTA, Policy), H index 20. Currently, she is president of the scientific commission of the Study Centre for Perinatal Epidemiology, expert within the Policy Research Centre Wellbeing, Public Health and Family.
