Biography
Dr Bodnar received her doctorate in nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a tenured professor of epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health in the USA. The main focus of her research is to understand the dietary patterns and weight of pregnant individuals that lead to the best maternal and child health outcomes. She served on the 2009 Institute of Medicine Committee to Evaluate Pregnancy Weight Gain Guidelines. Along with Dr Jennifer Hutcheon, Dr Bodnar has led several large grants funded by the National Institutes of Health in the USA that have contributed to our understanding of optimal weight gain ranges for pregnancy.
