Associate Professor Rachel Riera

Rachel Riera is a Medical Rheumatologist with a previous clinical practice based at the Hospital São Paulo, Universidade Federal de São Paulo and senior researcher at Cochrane Brazil. She has been involved with Evidence-based Medicine (EBM) and Health Technology Assessment (HTA) during the last 20 years. Currently she is Associated Professor for Evidence-based Medicine at Universidade Federal de São Paulo and Coordinator of HTA at Hospital Sírio-Libanês, São Paulo. Her specific fields of interest, beyond overall EBM and HTA topics, include the process of incorporating medicines and technologies in the Brazilian public health system (Sistema Único de Saúde, SUS), as well as the interactions between public and private healthcare services and health plans.
