Ronald Olum
Biography
Dr. Ronald Olum is a Research Associate at Makerere University School of Public Health and a young expert member of the World Health Organization Global Action for Measurement of Adolescent health (GAMA) Advisory Group. He underwent medical training at Makerere University and is completing a Master of Public Health from Imperial College London.
Dr. Olum conducts infectious disease research and has published widely on TB, HIV, and COVID-19, among others. He is currently leveraging implementation science to reduce the burden of HIV in adolescents and young people. Dr. Olum has contributed to developing adolescent health reports and guidelines for organisations such as WHO and UNESCO. He also served as Guest Editor for a Journal of Adolescent Health supplement on the Complexity of Child Marriage.
In 2024, Dr. Olum received the Dr. Anvar and Pari Velji Young African Leader Award from the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) for his dedication to improving health outcomes in low-income settings.
