Dr Rosemary Sang
Biography
Rosemary Sang is a biomedical research scientist with specialisation in Arbovirology, having a background in Zoology, (PhD) Medical Entomology (MSc) and Medical Virology (MSc) and over 30 years’ experience in field and laboratory studies on emerging arbovirus disease epidemiology, ecology, emergency and outbreak response. Has served in various research capacities at the Ministry of Health, the Kenya Medical Research Institute and through collaboration with the US Medical Research Directorate (WRP) and at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) emerging infectious diseases laboratory. Has led and mentored strong arbovirus research teams in conducting extensive surveillance, ecological studies and outbreak investigations that have improved our knowledge and understanding of the ecology and epidemiology of arboviruses of public health importance in Kenya and the region. Her work contributes to much of what is documented concerning distribution, ecology and epidemiology for arboviruses associated with disease in Kenya.
