Sirinya Phulkerd
Biography
Sirinya Phulkerd, PhD, is an Associate Professor at Institute for Population and Social Research at Mahidol University Thailand. Her expertise lies in food policy and governance, with a focus on promoting healthy food environments and addressing unhealthy diets. Since 2018 she has led the Food Policy and Monitoring and Evaluation research group, a multidisciplinary research team that secured several domestic and international grants. Her work primarily focuses on policy-driven, national-scale projects that strengthen the design, implementation and performance of food policies and systems in Thailand.
Over the past five years, she has actively contributed her expertise to government agencies through several professional service roles. She has served on the Committee on Development and Advocacy of the Draft Unhealthy Food Marketing Control Act, under the Department of Health, and the Technical Working Group on Policy and Collaboration on Obesity Prevention and Control, under the WHO-CCS and the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health.
She has received several honours, including the Mahidol University Researcher of the Year - Rising Researcher Award in Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts; Mahidol University’s Top 1% Researchers Award; and the Outstanding Faculty Award of the Institute for Population and Social Research.
