Biography

Sjoerd Postma, MSc, MA, is a global health expert with over 35 years’ experience in Global Health, Diseases Programs, Health Security and Health Systems management programs in 21 countries in Africa and Asia; he has a particular interest in integrated service delivery in decentralized health systems.

Prior to being a consultant, Sjoerd worked long-term in several challenging health systems strengthening and disease programs in Vietnam, Eswatini, Afghanistan, Liberia, Philippines, Indonesia, South Africa, India, Ethiopia, and Uganda. He was a focal point for Resilient and Strengthening Systems for Health at the Technical Review Panel of the Global Fund from 2017 to 2021; he undertook several strategic and policy development assignments for the Global Fund on health systems strengthening, challenging operating environments, data for decision-making, Covid-19 response mechanism and the overall strategy 2020 review.

He is currently leading a Gavi strategy operationalization review and a long-term zero-dose children strategy evaluation. Sjoerd holds a MSc in Health Policy and Management from the University of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and a MA in Health Planning, Management and Administration from the University of Leeds, in the UK. He resides between Liberia, The Netherlands and South Africa.
