Dr. Chandy did his MBBS and MD from Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore, India and PhD from Karolinska Institute, Sweden. His journey with AMR started over two decades ago collaborating with WHO on researching community use of antibiotics. Since then, he has devoted considerable time towards education, research, service and training for AMR related themes with various stakeholders.
Dr Chandy, besides having served as a Senior Professor at CMC Vellore, was also the Director of ReAct Asia Pacific leading advocacy, policy and community outreach activities related to AMR. In his current role as Executive Director of ICARS, he and his team help partner with LMIC ministries and researchers to co-develop and test cost-effective, context-specific AMR solutions with potential for scale-up across the One Health spectrum, building on National Action Plans, and informed by intervention and implementation research.
