Biography

Mrs Tammy Allen is a public health practitioner and academic at James Cook University, Australia. Tammy’s 20+ years of public health experience includes implementing strategies and research focused on strengthening community engagement in Aedes aegypti mosquito management. She was the health promotion advisor to a large dengue fever outbreak in Australia in 2008-9, and part of the first public health emergency operation centre established to respond to a mosquito-borne disease outbreak in Australia. She provides a unique perspective in the arbovirus field, through her health promotion, public health and tropical medicine training, public health emergency management expertise, and qualitative research skills.
