Tashi Penjore

Mr Tashi Penjore is currently Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering under the National Medical Services, Royal Government of Bhutan. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Production Engineering from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India and Master of Engineering Studies from the University of Sydney, Australia.  

With over 24 years in Bhutan’s civil service, including over a decade in the health sector, he has focused on health technology management, including needs assessment, procurement, maintenance, and the management of medical devices including medical gas systems across all national health facilities.

Standardization of medical equipment for procurement and introduction of performance verification and safety testing of medical devices are notable initiatives he undertook which were previously non-existent. 

He continues to play a vital role in strengthening biomedical engineering services in Bhutan to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality medical care in the country.
