Tony Yang
Biography
Dr. Y. Tony Yang is an endowed Professor of Health Policy and Associate Dean for Health Policy and Population Science at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. His research focuses on the intersection of law, policy, and health, particularly their effects on healthcare delivery and population health outcomes. A former postdoctoral researcher at MIT, Dr. Yang has served as an FDA Regulatory Science Fellow and a CDC Health Policy Fellow, gaining extensive experience in health policy research and practice.
Dr. Yang has authored over 170 peer-reviewed articles in leading journals spanning medicine, public health, health policy, and law. His books, Vaccine Law and Policy (Springer, 2023) and Achieving Health Equity: The Role of Law and Policy (Wiley, 2024), highlight his expertise in immunization policy and health equity. A Distinguished Fellow of the National Academies of Practice, he has received numerous accolades, including the American Public Health Association’s Early Career Award for Excellence.
With over $7 million in US federal research funding as Principal Investigator, including a current NIH R01 grant, Dr. Yang’s work continues to shape health policy. He holds graduate degrees in Public Health (Harvard), Health Policy and Management (Harvard), and Law (University of Pennsylvania). Dr. Yang serves on the AcademyHealth Education Council and the Board of Directors for The American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics.
