Ms Victoria James
Biography
Victoria is a seasoned social development and strategic planning expert with over 28 years’ experience. Educated at the Universities of Glamorgan and Wales College Cardiff, Victoria’s professional background encompasses Health and Development Programme design, Programme Management, Monitoring and Evaluation along with Organizational Development. She is currently the Team Leader for Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation –technical assistance team leading all research and support to grant recipients across 7 African countries and is the Team Lead for the Aflatoun longitudinal research.
She has experience with the UNAIDS Gender Assessment Tool (GAT) having been one of the two consultants engaged by UNAIDS to revise the tool and roll out the trainings. She has conducted a number of Community Rights and Gender assessments. She has strong experience with the Global Fund Community Rights and Gender Group (CRG) as a consultant providing technical assistance towards enhancing the involvement of civil society organisations in monitoring of Global Fund investments. She has experience in conducting TB reviews worldwide.
Victoria is conversant with global tools and guidance of WHO, Global Fund and UNAIDS. She was the Principal Investigator for a Randomized Controlled Trial that evaluated the effectiveness of a Social and Behaviour Change Communication intervention aimed at improving access to SRHR and HIV prevention services among adolescents and young people in Zimbabwe. She also was a Principal Investigator for a longitudinal study to evaluate the effectiveness of an Africaid - Zvandiri intervention aimed at assessing the effectiveness of psychosocial support interventions in improving health outcomes for adolescents living with HIV.
Victoria has been engaged by the Global Fund Community Rights Group (CRG) and Stop TB as a consultant providing technical assistance towards enhancing the involvement of civil society organisations in monitoring Global Fund investments across the globe.
