Dengue Situation Report # 9: 23 October 2023

Overview

• In epidemiological week 42, 15 432 new cases were reported which is a 3.9% drop compared to 16 050 in the previous week. This is the 3rd consecutive week with decline in the number of reported cases.
• 86 deaths were reported during the week, compared to 83 in the previous week. Number of reported deaths increased in the Khulna and Barishal divisions in the reporting week.
• The number of weekly deaths is fluctuating between 80 and 100 in the last 8 weeks without any consistent pattern of decline unlike the reported number of cases.
• A weeklong nationwide dengue prevention and clean-up campaign was inaugurated on Thursday 19 October 2023. The event was inaugurated and chaired by the Minister of Local government. The weeklong event would run from 29 October – 4 November 2023.
