The three-day Annual Media Workshop 2025 was held in Paro, bringing together over 37 participants including media professionals, officials from the Ministry of Health, WHO Bhutan, Dratshang Lhentshog and Civil Society Organizations.
Dr Bhupinder Kaur Aulakh, WHO Representative to Bhutan highlighted the crucial role of media in driving advocacy, awareness, and behavior change in public health in her welcome remarks.
The Hon’ble Health Minister Lyonpo Tandin Wangchuk stressed that “a resilient and equitable health system is not built by health professionals alone, but by a society that is informed, engaged, and empowered.” He emphasized the media’s vital role in bridging science and society, countering misinformation, and shaping healthier communities.
The year’s theme is to “Strengthening Health Systems for Equity and Resilience,” setting the stage for rich discussions and learning on:
- Health sector transformation & strategic priorities
- Tackling NCDs and health emergencies
- Media’s role in outbreak reporting and risk communication
- Partnerships with spiritual leaders, CSOs, and the private sector
- Whole-of-society approach to public health
The workshop will strengthen the collaboration between the Ministry of Health, WHO, and the Media fraternity towards building a healthier and more resilient Bhutan.
