Ebola virus disease - South Sudan

Description of the situation

As of 17 June, the health authorities of Yambio County have reported that the outbreak of Ebola haemorrhagic fever in the Yambio, Western Equatoria, south Sudan appears to be under control.

Laboratory testing of samples is continuing and further results will be forthcoming in the near future. Active surveillance activities are ongoing and will be maintained by the members of the WHO South Sudan Early Warning and Response Network (EWARN) and local health workers until the outbreak is over.
