The Ministry of Health, Kenya has reported a total number of 141 suspected cases including 6 deaths of leptospirosis in a high school in Bungoma district. Leptospirosis has been laboratory confirmed by the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI). A nearby primary school has also reported suspected cases and 2 deaths.
Environment, epidemiology and laboratory teams from the Ministry of Health are working with district teams on investigations, with support from WHO.
