Fostering dialogue, cross-country exchange of lessons and building networks on quality of care and patient safety
WHO/Europe provides country support to Member States to improve quality of care and patient safety and connects them regularly with governments, local and international experts, and other partners and stakeholders to exchange dialogue while building networks, forming alliances and engaging stakeholders.
For this purpose, the WHO Office for Quality of Care and Patient Safety in Athens hosts 2 webinar series on quality of care and patient safety entitled ‘WHO Meeting of the Minds’ and ‘WHO Open Quality Net’. The webinars are targeted for policy-makers, scientists, technical experts, and implementers primarily in the Region.
The webinars’ themes include:
- Theme 1. Innovation, cutting-edge tools and good practices in the fields of quality of care and patient safety, including digital health services;
- Theme 2. Partnerships, stakeholders’ engagement and establishment of supportive collaboration and mutual learning networks in the area of quality of care;
- Theme 3. Response during the COVID-19 pandemic related to quality of care and patient safety;
- Theme 4. Patients’ perspectives on quality: enhancing patient-informed involvement and shared decision-making in health care; and
- Theme 5. Implementation and evaluation of evidence-based, national quality of care plans/initiatives.
The webinars serve as an ideal forum for discussions on quality of care and patient safety that require openness, transparency, innovation and accountability to transform health systems, promote health and protect cultures. They aim to place quality of care and patient safety at the center of achieving universal health coverage in the Region.
